Anne Marie Gallagher BSc, RCSLT, ASILTIP
Hello, I’m Anne Marie Gallagher.
I’m a qualified Consultant Speech and Language Therapist with over 25 years of experience specialising in adult autism assessment and diagnosis.
Throughout my NHS career, I’ve worked across autism, mental health and learning disability services, developing particular expertise in identifying autism in adults who may have gone undiagnosed for many years, especially women and those who mask their autistic traits.
My work has also contributed to improving autism diagnostic practice nationally. I was a member of the expert group that developed the SIGN 145 national clinical guidelines for autism assessment, diagnosis and intervention, and have worked with the Scottish Government and several NHS boards to improve autism services.
As a Scottish trainer in DISCO (Diagnostic Interview for Social and Communication Disorders), I’ve trained and certified over 150 clinicians across NHS Scotland, including psychologists and psychiatrists, in autism assessment and diagnosis. I’ve also conducted joint diagnostic assessments with local NHS teams, helping strengthen their expertise and improve access to services.
Alongside my clinical work, I’m a tutor on the University of South Wales Master’s programme in Neurodiversity.
Now in private practice, I’m passionate about helping autistic adults better understand their unique thinking styles and experiences. I recognise how life-changing a late diagnosis can be and aim to provide a supportive, understanding environment throughout the assessment process.
ADHD screening is also included as part of my autism assessment process, drawing on my NHS experience supporting adults with both conditions.

Dr. Anne Greig - Specialist Educational Psychologist
Hello, I’m Dr. Anne Greig – Specialist Educational Psychologist – PhD; MSc Ed; DipCBT; MA (Hons); DipEd
With 25 years experience of providing Educational Psychology services to children and young people together with supporting autistic parents and autistic young people, I’ve had experience in assessing and providing intervention for autistic people.
I have been an active member of an adult autistic team in Glasgow for several years.
I also have a strong publication list, some co-authored with Professor Mackay on the themes of autism and mental health and has delivered talks and training nationwide.
I also held a post doctoral position in charge of research on attachment, relationships and maternal depression at the University of East Anglia and for the last 7 years I have been part of a team of experts in child development and the impact of trauma and complex developmental trauma, providing expert training collaboration for those who work with children in Bethlehem, Palestine, who have adverse childhood experiences.
